Understand your fees

Two fees come out of each payment: the card processing fee first, then the DropIn platform fee on what is left.

How your share is worked out

For every booking, DropIn works out your share in this order:

  1. Start with the total the parent paid for the booking.
  2. Take off the card processing fee. This is the fee Stripe charges to process the payment.
  3. Take off the platform fee. This is the percentage in your agreement with DropIn. It is worked out on the amount left after the card processing fee, not on the full price.
  4. The rest is yours. This is your net earnings.

Here is the example from the center agreement. Your own rates may differ.

Step

Amount

Booking total

$100.00

Card processing fee

-$3.30

Amount left

$96.70

Platform fee at 20%

-$19.34

Your earnings

$77.36

Where to see the fees

On a booking. Open the booking and look at the Pricing section. It shows the Total, Payment processing, Platform Fee and Your Earnings. If Stripe has not reported the real processing fee yet, the line reads Payment processing (est.) and uses an estimate. The real fee replaces it later.

On the Earnings screen. In the table, the Fee column is the platform fee only. The Net column is what you receive after both fees. The summary cards also show the platform fee only, under the large net number.

In the CSV export. The file has separate Platform Fee and Stripe Fee columns, so you can see both.

Coupons and credits

  • Free day coupons. If you comp a day with a coupon, the booking shows Free day (coupon) with "(comped by you)". Fees are worked out on the total the parent actually paid.
  • Demo credit. Any part of a booking paid with DropIn demo credit is not paid out. The platform fee is worked out only on the part paid with real money. You see a note like "+$20.00 demo credit, not paid out" under the gross amount.
  • Package days. A day paid with a package has no fees of its own. The fees were taken once, on the package sale. See "How package sales are paid".
