Log a child's day in the care log
Use the care log to record meals, naps, diapers, activities and more, so parents can see how their child's day went.
Open the care log
- Open Bookings (left sidebar on a computer, bottom tab bar on the phone app).
- Tap the child's booking.
- Tap Care Log at the top of the booking. You can also use the Care Log box on the booking page, which shows the latest entries and a View all link.
At the top of the care log you see the child's allergies, dietary needs, medications and medical conditions. Below that, a Daily summary counts meals, snacks, naps, diaper changes, photos and incidents.
Add an entry for one child
- Tap Add entry.
- Pick a type: Meal, Snack, Nap started, Nap ended, Diaper, Activity, Mood, Photo, Note, Medication, Milestone or Incident.
- Fill in the form. For example:
- Meal: pick Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner, add the food items and choose how much the child ate (All, Most, Some or None).
- Nap: choose Start when the child falls asleep and End when they wake up. DropIn works out how long the nap was. Then pick the quality.
- Diaper: pick Wet, Soiled or Dry, and tick Rash noted if needed.
- Activity: pick one, such as Circle Time or Outdoor Play, or tap Other… to type your own.
- Medication: enter the medication, dosage, time and who gave it. Your name is filled in for you.
- Tap the save button, for example Log meal or Save note.
Tap Back to pick a different type. Check each entry before you save it, because the care log has no edit button.
The Add entry button goes away when the booking is completed.
Log for a whole room at once
When children are checked in and assigned to a room, the Today tab on Bookings shows a Room-level logging box.
- Find the room and tap Log Meal, Log Snack or Log Activity.
- Enter the food items or the activity name.
- Untick any child who did not take part. You can change how much each child ate, or how each child took part.
- Tap Log for followed by the number of children.
DropIn adds a separate entry to each child's care log.
What parents see
Parents see the care log for their child's booking. They also get a notification for photos, milestones, medication and incidents.
